What is RMF ?

RMF is Canon's Raw Media Format, the raw recording format of cinema cameras such as the EOS C500. Each file holds unprocessed sensor data for a single frame rather than a developed picture. It is read here through the LibRaw library, which develops the frame into a normal image.

Why Convert RMF files?

An RMF file is a single raw frame from a Canon cinema camera such as the EOS C500 — unprocessed sensor data that photo viewers and editors simply do not recognise. Converting it develops that data into a normal image you can open, share and drop into a document.

Because each RMF holds one frame, the result is a still picture rather than a video clip, developed with default settings. That makes it ideal for reference frames and thumbnails. For the highest fidelity choose TIFF or PNG, and leave real grading decisions to dedicated raw software.

Start converting your RMF files now — it's fast, easy, and supports any output format you need.
