Why Convert PDF to PBM file?

PBM is the simplest image format there is: the Portable Bitmap from the Netpbm family, one bit per pixel, every pixel either black or white. That makes it a favourite input for command-line image tools, OCR and document-processing pipelines, fax software and label or thermal printers, all of which want clean black-and-white pages and nothing else.
